Put a new state on your list
Choose a state for a quiz, lesson or creative challenge.Inputs changed. Generate again to use your updated settings.
How it works
- Use all 50 US states, the contiguous 48, or Alaska and Hawaii.
- Choose the number of states and whether each result must be different. The pool count helps you see what is possible.
- Pick states. Results include two-letter postal abbreviations and can be copied or exported as text.
Equal state chances, clear boundaries
Every state in your selected group has the same probability. A state is not weighted by size or population. The contiguous group excludes Alaska and Hawaii. Washington, DC and US territories are not states and are outside this 50-state collection.
Your inputs stay with you

Can I pick all 50 states in a random order?
Yes. Choose All 50 states, set the number to 50 and keep different choices enabled. Every state will appear once. A new pick starts fresh and can include states from an earlier result. Abbreviations are the official two-letter USPS codes, such as CA for California.
About this collection
State names and USPS abbreviations were checked against the U.S. Census Bureau state-code table, a U.S. government factual source. This collection includes exactly 50 states and excludes the District of Columbia and territories.
