Random task assignment
People on one list. Tasks on the other. A clear plan for everyone.

Who will do what?
Add your people and tasks, then make an assignment. How it works
- Enter distinct people and tasks on their tabs. Every task is assigned once; a person can receive several tasks.
- In Settings, optionally set a maximum per person or avoid the previous person for matching task names. Leave the maximum blank for the default balanced distribution.
- Assign tasks and review the table and per-person counts. Copy, export or print a completed result. If a constraint is impossible, the tool lists unplaced tasks and keeps earlier results in history.
Balanced counts, explicit constraints
The default randomizes task order and breaks ties between the least-loaded people at random, so task counts differ by at most one. A capacity limits each person’s count. Avoid the previous person adds an exclusion per matching task and uses randomized matching to find a complete assignment when possible. Constrained results are not claimed to be uniformly distributed across all possible assignments, and may be less balanced. Task duration and difficulty are not modeled.
Your inputs stay with you
Your entries, settings and results are processed in this browser and are not sent to our server. Clearing browser data removes saved drafts and results. Export a text file if you want to keep a copy. Hosting may record standard page-request logs.
Does this create a long-term rotation?
Avoid the previous person compares with the latest completed assignment only. Matching is based on exact task and person labels, so renaming an entry changes that comparison. It does not track fairness across weeks or guarantee everyone will eventually do every task. If you need one task per person, set the maximum to 1; there must be enough eligible people. Input changes never modify an earlier result.
