Random seating chart

How it works

1. Enter one distinct name per line. In Layout, choose 1–10 rows and columns. Select positions that must remain blocked, such as missing desks or an aisle.
2. Assign seats places each person in one available position. Row 1 is at the front; columns run left to right. Empty and blocked seats are labeled separately.
3. Copy or export the complete seat list, or choose Print / PDF for the chart and seat list. Recent results retain their original layout even when you edit the next chart.

Random seats within your room layout

Every entered person is assigned once, without replacement, to the available positions using browser cryptographic randomness. If the room has extra seats, empty positions are random too. Blocked seats never receive a name. The tool checks capacity before generating and leaves the previous chart available if there is not enough room.

Your inputs stay with you

Your entries, settings and results are processed in this browser and are not sent to our server. Clearing browser data removes saved drafts and results. Export a text file if you want to keep a copy. Hosting may record standard page-request logs.

Can I reserve a specific seat for a person?

This version supports unavailable positions, but not pinned people, adjacency rules or accommodation constraints. Apply any required seating arrangements separately. Wide layouts can scroll inside the chart on small screens; the exported list includes every position. Changing dimensions preserves blocked seats that still exist at the same row and column.
